EcoFlow OCEAN 2: Three-Phase Home Battery Showcased at IFA 2026

EcoFlow is putting its OCEAN 2 home battery and energy system in front of installers and press at IFA Berlin 2026 (4-8 September, Messe Berlin), the same week the company used an Economist Enterprise panel ahead of the show to set out its wider pitch for energy independence — leaning on a base of more than 10 million deployed devices and 5 million global users. OCEAN 2 is the clearest expression of that pitch for homeowners: a three-phase battery and inverter system built to scale as a household's energy needs change, rather than a fixed-size box you outgrow.

What OCEAN 2 actually is

OCEAN 2 is EcoFlow's next-generation all-in-one solar battery platform, sold in three-phase, single-phase and Plus single-phase variants with inverter outputs spanning roughly 3kW to 15kW depending on configuration. The three-phase system — the version most relevant to larger UK homes on a three-phase supply — uses a new 5kWh LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery module, with up to twelve modules stackable per inverter for a maximum of around 60kWh of storage. Each module delivers up to 3.4kW of output, carries an IP66 rating, and is rated for over 10,000 charge cycles with a stated 15-year design life — the "15+ years of reliable performance" EcoFlow is promoting sits alongside that cycle rating rather than being a separate, unexplained marketing figure.

Scalable by design

The modular architecture is the headline feature. Rather than sizing a battery once at install and living with that ceiling, OCEAN 2's per-inverter module count means a household can start with a smaller pack and add 5kWh modules later as EV charging, a heat pump or a bigger export ambition pushes storage needs up. Installation and energy management

EcoFlow is marketing OCEAN 2 on "streamlined installation and intelligent energy management" alongside the hardware itself. In practice that means the battery and inverter are designed for both indoor and outdoor mounting, air-cooled with built-in heating elements rated down to -20°C, and managed through EcoFlow's OASIS energy platform — which the company says now integrates with more than 500 dynamic tariff providers and over 35 smart home brands across its OCEAN 2 and PowerOcean range. Why EcoFlow is leaning on scale

The Economist Enterprise panel EcoFlow co-hosted ahead of IFA — "Flexible by Design: Energy Resilience for Business", held at Messe Berlin's Hall 3.2 — wasn't about OCEAN 2 specifically, but it frames why EcoFlow is pushing the product now. Nick Chen, EcoFlow's Chief of Strategy, argued that small and medium businesses "face the exact same energy volatility and high costs that residential consumers deal with" and need "extreme simplicity, modular scalability, and intelligent software automation" — the same three properties OCEAN 2 is built around for the home. EcoFlow's stated base of 10 million-plus devices and 5 million-plus users is the evidence it's citing that this playbook already works at consumer scale, before it tries to carry the same modular hardware and automated tariff-switching into commercial energy resilience.

What's still unconfirmed for UK buyers

EcoFlow's IFA and pre-IFA materials describe OCEAN 2's specification and platform rather than confirming UK pricing, installer availability or a retail launch date. It's currently positioned as an installer-fit product — EcoFlow says quotes vary by location, existing wiring and switchboard requirements — so there's no fixed UK price list to compare against a Tesla Powerwall or GivEnergy system yet. The 500-plus tariff provider and 35-plus smart home brand integration counts are EcoFlow's own figures rather than independently audited ones, and it isn't yet clear which of those integrations will be live for UK tariffs and UK smart home ecosystems specifically. Until EcoFlow confirms UK pricing, installer partners and a compatibility list, treat OCEAN 2 as a specification preview rather than a system you can get a like-for-like quote on today.
