Why this site exists

I am not an industry expert and do not claim to be. I started SmartSolarHomes while researching a solar and battery install for my own home. Every article here is written or reviewed by me. The comparison engine is based on published manufacturer specifications and a weighted scoring framework — not lab testing. Where I am uncertain about a fact, I say so. Where I have hands-on experience (eventually, my own install), I will write it up with photos and real costs.

How I write reviews

• Scores are calculated from published manufacturer specifications using a transparent weighted formula. The weights are listed on the editorial policy page.
• Long-form articles are AI-drafted (Claude) and reviewed by me before publication. I correct factual errors, remove anything I can't verify, and rewrite anything that sounds like fake expert verdict.
• Affiliate links are present where products are genuinely affiliate-buyable. They are disclosed at the top of any page containing them and do not influence scoring.
• I have not (yet) installed any of these products at my own home. When I do, I'll write a real install diary with photos and actual costs.
