EcoFlow OASIS 3.0 and STREAM: AI Home Energy at IFA 2026

EcoFlow is using IFA Berlin 2026 (4-8 September, Hall 2.2, Booth 166, Messe Berlin) to put two connected products in front of installers and press: the STREAM home battery series and OASIS 3.0, its home energy management system (HEMS). Both are distinct from the three-phase OCEAN 2 battery and the RIVER Gen4 and PowerRock 4000 portable power stations EcoFlow is also showing at the same stand this week — STREAM and OASIS 3.0 are aimed squarely at households that already have rooftop solar and want to store and manage that generation, not carry power around.
What is EcoFlow STREAM?
STREAM is EcoFlow's home battery series built to retrofit storage onto solar panels that are already installed on the roof, rather than requiring a new solar array to go with it. EcoFlow launched the series across Europe in June 2026, and it's designed specifically to handle the higher feed-in power that an existing rooftop solar system produces — a gap EcoFlow says older retrofit batteries weren't built to absorb. Within the range, the STREAM AC 5000 won the home&smart Innovation Award, and is EcoFlow's flagship pitch for pairing directly with an existing inverter rather than a self-contained plug-in kit. Our separate EcoFlow STREAM 5000 UK review covers the standalone unit's pricing and specs in detail; this piece focuses on the wider IFA showcase and the software layer running across the range.
Does STREAM install itself, or do you need an electrician?
For a UK install, STREAM needs a qualified electrical contractor, not a DIY plug-in job. EcoFlow's own installation documentation says that where a region doesn't support a plug-and-play connection — which includes the UK — the unit has to be wired into the distribution board by a certified electrician or professional installer, in line with local wiring regulations. That's a meaningful distinction from the smaller plug-in balcony solar kits that became self-installable in the UK in August 2026: STREAM's higher input and output power specifically requires the connection to be made by someone qualified, regardless of region.
What's new: Local Mode from October 2026
From October 2026, STREAM systems gain a feature called Local Mode. EcoFlow says that if the household's internet connection drops, a STREAM system simply carries on working: the battery keeps operating and the EcoFlow app keeps controlling it, with no cloud service in the loop and nothing for the homeowner to set up or configure beforehand. For a battery whose main job is reacting to changing solar generation and household demand through the day, that's a direct answer to a common concern with cloud-dependent smart energy hardware — a router outage or ISP fault no longer means the battery falls back to a fixed, un-optimised charge/discharge schedule.
What does OASIS 3.0 actually do?
OASIS 3.0 is EcoFlow's energy management system — the software that reads a household's own energy profile and decides, continuously, when to store solar power, when to draw on the battery, and when to lean on the grid instead. EcoFlow says the platform integrates with more than 1,000 energy providers across Europe, produces solar generation forecasts accurate to up to 90 per cent, and supports both Cloud API and Modbus integration for installers and third-party smart home platforms wanting to hook into it directly. Combined with solar and battery storage, EcoFlow says OASIS 3.0 can cut a household's electricity costs by up to 77.6 per cent — a ceiling figure rather than a typical result, since actual savings depend heavily on a household's own consumption pattern and the tariff it's on. For context on how that kind of automated charge/discharge scheduling actually pays off on a UK tariff, see our guide to time-of-use tariffs for solar owners.
How does OASIS 3.0 differ from the OASIS platform on OCEAN 2?
OASIS 3.0 is a newer, larger version of the same underlying OASIS platform EcoFlow uses across its battery range. When EcoFlow showed the OCEAN 2 three-phase battery earlier this IFA week, it quoted OASIS integration figures of 500-plus dynamic tariff providers and 35-plus smart home brands; the OASIS 3.0 figures for STREAM — 1,000-plus energy providers and Cloud API/Modbus support — are larger and describe a more recent version of the platform, first detailed at Intersolar Europe in Munich in June 2026. Both are EcoFlow's own reported numbers rather than independently audited ones, and it isn't yet clear whether every OASIS-branded product across EcoFlow's range is running the identical 3.0 build or a variant tuned to that specific battery line.
What's still unconfirmed for UK buyers
EcoFlow's IFA materials describe STREAM and OASIS 3.0's capability and specification rather than confirming a UK price for the software itself (OASIS 3.0 is bundled with EcoFlow's battery hardware rather than sold separately) or a fixed installer network for the STREAM range beyond the STREAM 5000 unit already reviewed on this site. The 1,000-plus provider count, 90 per cent forecast accuracy and 77.6 per cent savings ceiling are EcoFlow's own published figures rather than independently verified ones, and Local Mode won't actually ship until October 2026, so it can't yet be tested in a real UK home with a real broadband outage. Treat STREAM and OASIS 3.0 as a specification and roadmap update rather than a finished, independently reviewed UK product today.
Other IFA 2026 home solar debuts
EcoFlow was not the only company using IFA Berlin 2026 to show new home energy hardware — DJI confirmed its first-ever balcony solar system at the same show, launching in Germany bundled with its Power 2000 portable power station.
