Which programmes we use

Smart Solar Homes is a participant in the Amazon Associates programme (amazon.co.uk), operated by Amazon EU S.à r.l. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Links to Amazon UK product pages — typically for DIY and smart-home hardware such as Raspberry Pi boards, adapters, and monitoring kit — may be affiliate links.

Not every link on this site is an affiliate link. Links to manufacturer specification sheets, Ofgem, MCS, government schemes, and other reference sources earn us nothing.

Affiliate links never influence our reviews

Our product scores are calculated from published manufacturer specifications using a fixed weighted formula. Whether a product has an affiliate link plays no part in that formula: a product with no affiliate link can — and regularly does — outscore one that has them. No brand can improve its score by paying us, offering free kit, or sponsoring content, and no retailer sees a review before it is published.

How to identify affiliate links

Affiliate links carry the HTML attributes rel="nofollow sponsored", and any page containing them shows a disclosure notice near the top of the content.

How else we are funded

When you're ready to get quotes, we connect you with vetted, MCS-certified local installers. We receive a fee for that introduction — from the installer, not from you, and only once you've chosen to request a quote. Together with affiliate commission, this covers the cost of running the site without paid placements or sponsored rankings.
