OSCAL Power Storage 3000: Balcony Battery at IFA 2026

OSCAL — a brand most UK shoppers would recognise, if at all, for its rugged smartphones and tablets — used IFA Berlin 2026 (Booth H3.2-171, Messe Berlin, 4–8 September) to show its second-generation balcony solar battery, the Power Storage 3000. It's a plug-and-play unit in the same category we cover in our guide to plug-in balcony solar in the UK, but the notable part of the story is who's making it: a company that built its name on PowerMax portable power stations and PILOT-series rugged phones is now going after fixed home energy storage.

What's confirmed: output, capacity and solar input

OSCAL's own IFA announcement lists the Power Storage 3000 at 2,500W output, with capacity expandable from 3kWh to 15.3kWh using add-on battery modules. Solar input is rated at 4,000W across MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) channels, and the unit is billed as micro-inverter compatible with both on-grid and off-grid operation. Those figures aren't independently audited — they're manufacturer claims from the launch release — but the expansion range and solar input ceiling are broadly in line with rival balcony units shown at the same event, such as the OUKITEL EP2500.

Built on the Power Storage 2000, with an Octopus Energy angle

The Power Storage 3000 follows OSCAL's first balcony battery, the Power Storage 2000, which launched in July 2026 at a €999 list price (€849.99 presale) with 1.92–9.6kWh expandable capacity, 1,200W standard output and four MPPT trackers taking up to 2,400W of solar. That earlier model's headline software feature was AI Smart TOU (time-of-use) Optimisation, which OSCAL says integrates with dynamic electricity platforms including Tibber, Nord Pool and Octopus Energy to automatically shift charging and discharging around cheap and expensive rate periods. OSCAL's IFA materials describe the same AI time-of-use management as a headline feature of the Power Storage 3000, though the company hasn't yet published which specific tariff platforms the newer model supports. If that Octopus Energy integration carries over, it would be directly relevant to UK households already on an Octopus time-of-use tariff, since automated off-peak charging is exactly what a balcony battery needs to pay for itself faster.

The rest of OSCAL's IFA line-up

Alongside the Power Storage 3000, OSCAL showed three portable power stations at the same booth: the PowerMax 6000 Pro (6,000W output, up to 57.6kWh with wireless stacking), the PowerMax 2400 Pro (2,400W output, up to 22.1kWh, also wireless-stackable), and the PowerMax 3600 SE and 2400 SE, which OSCAL describes only as flexible options for home backup, outdoor use and travel — no detailed specs for the SE pair have been published. Rugged phones and tablets (the PILOT 8, PILOT 6, Pad 200, FLAT series and KIDO MINI) were shown at the same stand, underlining that energy storage is still a newer, secondary line for the brand rather than its core business.

How it fits against this week's other balcony launches

The Power Storage 3000 arrives in the same IFA week as several other plug-and-play balcony systems already covered here, including the OUKITEL EP2500 and the wider field of BLUETTI, FOSSiBOT and Anker balcony units shown at the same show. Against that field, OSCAL's differentiator on paper is the Octopus/Tibber/Nord Pool-aware AI tariff switching carried over from the Power Storage 2000, rather than raw capacity or MPPT count — its 3–15.3kWh range and 4,000W solar input sit mid-pack rather than leading it. Whether that software edge is meaningful depends on OSCAL actually confirming which tariff platforms the 3000 supports, which it hasn't yet done.

UK price and availability: unconfirmed

OSCAL's IFA release gives no price, release date or market list for the Power Storage 3000. The predecessor Power Storage 2000 launched at a €999 EU list price with no confirmed UK sale, so on current form a UK launch and UK-specific pricing for the 3000 are not guaranteed.
