FOSSiBOT FBP1200: Balcony Solar Storage at IFA Berlin 2026

Written and reviewed by Sepehr. See our editorial policy.
FOSSiBOT is showing its FBP1200 balcony solar storage system at IFA Berlin 2026 (Hall 2.2, Booth H2.2-173, Messe Berlin, 4–8 September), alongside upcoming models the company says will widen its home energy line-up: the FBP1500, FBP3000 and F3600L. The FBP1200 is an all-in-one unit that combines solar generation, battery storage and an AI-powered Home Energy Management System (HEMS) in a single balcony-mounted box — the same plug-and-play category we cover in our guide to plug-in balcony solar in the UK.
Capacity and how it expands
The base FBP1200 unit holds 1958Wh (102Ah at 19.2V). FOSSiBOT sells expansion battery packs (FBP1200-B) that stack onto the main unit: one host plus four expansion packs reaches 9.79kWh, and the company says up to four of those stacks can run in parallel for a combined 39.1kWh — enough, FOSSiBOT claims, for “weeks” of backup power in an outage. That scaling range, from a single balcony unit to a whole-home-sized bank, is unusually wide for this product category; most rivals we track in our home battery storage rankings fix their expansion ceiling much lower.
Power output, solar input and battery chemistry
A single FBP1200 delivers 800W of grid-tied AC output as standard (rising to 1200W in off-grid mode) and accepts up to 2000W of solar input, enough for up to six of FOSSiBOT's SP420 panels. The battery cells are LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) sourced from EVE Energy, which FOSSiBOT rates at 5,000–6,000 charge cycles to 80%+ remaining capacity — roughly a decade of daily cycling. The unit is IP65-rated for outdoor and balcony mounting, and FOSSiBOT says built-in heating film keeps the battery operating down to -20°C, with natural heat dissipation instead of a fan for quiet running. These are manufacturer figures rather than independently audited test results, so treat them as claims rather than verified benchmarks — the same caveat we apply to any brand's cycle-life numbers in our guide to whether solar batteries are worth it.
What the AI HEMS actually does
FOSSiBOT's pitch for the FBP1200 centres on its AI Home Energy Management System, which it says continuously analyses a household's consumption patterns, local weather forecasts and real-time electricity prices — drawing on pricing data from more than 700 European suppliers — to automatically schedule charging and discharging. In practice that means charging the battery when solar generation is highest or grid prices are lowest, then discharging during expensive peak periods, a pattern FOSSiBOT describes as “peak shaving and valley filling.” It's a more automated version of the manual time-of-use scheduling most UK balcony-solar owners currently do by hand.
Price and what's still unconfirmed for the UK
FOSSiBOT lists a European recommended retail price of €699 for the FBP1200 unit on its EU store, with bundled kits including expansion batteries priced higher. The IFA Berlin showing and FOSSiBOT's marketing so far have focused on the EU market; neither the press announcement nor FOSSiBOT's product pages confirm a UK price, a UK launch date, or whether the FBP1200 will ship through a UK-specific store. Balcony solar units in this power range also sit close to the UK's informal guidance on plug-in generation, so anyone considering it should check current MCS and DNO guidance before ordering, rather than assuming EU specifications translate directly. We'll update this piece once FOSSiBOT confirms UK pricing or availability.
