What I noticed
Always use genuine Stäubli MC4 connectors — counterfeit connectors from unnamed brands fail at the crimp point and are a fire risk. The MC4 is the universal standard for panel-to-cable DC connections. You'll need two pairs per panel (plus one for each string junction). A 10-panel array on a single string needs 10 pairs plus 2 for the home-run to the inverter — order 15 pairs to have spares.
Tools required
A proper MC4 crimping tool (~£15–25) is essential — don't use generic pliers. The crimp must deform the metal sleeve in a very specific way to pass the retention test. Also get the MC4 spanner tool (~£5) for tightening the locking ring.
