What I noticed
K2 Systems' in-roof mounting replaces a section of your roof tiles with the solar panels themselves, achieving a flush finish that many planning authorities and homeowners prefer over the raised-rail on-roof appearance. Because the panels sit at the same level as the surrounding roof, wind resistance is lower and the aesthetic impact is significantly reduced.
Who it suits
New builds or roofs due for retiling where in-roof saves tile material cost. Homeowners in conservation areas or with planning sensitivity where visual impact is a concern. The flush profile also makes the install less visible from street level.
Watch for
In-roof installs require removing existing tiles — appropriate for new builds or major roof works but expensive as a retrofit if the roof is otherwise sound. Ventilation behind the panels must be designed in; panels can run hotter than on-roof equivalents, which slightly reduces efficiency.
