What I noticed
The Solar iBoost+ takes a different approach to monitoring: a wireless sender unit clips to your import/export meter and transmits the surplus figure to the immersion controller wirelessly, with no need to run a cable from the inverter to the hot water cylinder. This makes it easier to install in homes where those two locations are far apart.
Who it suits
Homes where running a data cable from the solar inverter to the hot water cylinder would be difficult or expensive. The wireless range is typically 30–40m through walls, which covers the majority of UK homes.
Watch for
No app or remote monitoring — the iBoost+ is a simple divert-and-forget device with no smart scheduling or integration. Maximum load of 3kW is lower than the Eddi's 3.68kW. The 2-year warranty is shorter than competitors.
