What I noticed

Mitsubishi Electric's Ecodan range has the largest installed base of any heat pump brand in the UK — which matters for long-term support, spare parts availability, and the depth of the installer knowledge base. If something goes wrong five years from now, finding someone who knows the unit is not a problem.

Who it suits

Any UK home where reliability and aftermarket support are priorities over cutting-edge efficiency figures. R32 refrigerant is widely handled by installers. The Ecodan range covers outputs from 5kW to 16kW, so the same system family scales up if your needs change.

Watch for

SCOP of 3.9 is slightly below the Vaillant arotherm plus — not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing over a 15-year payback horizon. The unit is slightly noisier than class leaders.
