What I noticed
The Wallbox Pulsar Plus is one of the most compact 7.4kW chargers on the market — roughly the size of a thick paperback — which makes it an easy install in tight garages or external locations where aesthetics matter. It is untethered (no cable attached), so you supply your own Type 2 cable. That is either a feature or an inconvenience depending on how you feel about storing a cable.
The app is one of the better ones in this category. It handles scheduled charging, real-time energy monitoring, and load balancing with your home circuits so you don't trip the main fuse. A mid-session charge management feature lets you set a target state of charge, which is useful if you want to stop at 80% to preserve battery longevity.
Who it suits
Households without solar who primarily want smart scheduling around off-peak tariffs (Octopus Go, OVO Beyond). The Pulsar Plus is OCPP-compatible, so if you switch energy suppliers or want a third-party app to control charging, it will work. The lack of solar divert is the main gap — if you have panels or plan to get them, the Zappi is a better fit.
What I'd watch for
IP54 weatherproofing is the category standard but not exceptional — for fully exposed outdoor installs, check the install location carefully. Wallbox's UK customer support has had inconsistent reviews; the hardware is reliable but if something goes wrong the resolution process can be slow. The 3-year warranty is adequate but shorter than you might want for a device expected to run for 10+ years.
