What I noticed
Indra is a small UK company making chargers in Buckinghamshire. The Smart PRO is their flagship home unit — 7.4kW, tethered with a generous 7m cable (the longest here), IP65 rated, and genuinely solar-aware. The solar divert works in a similar way to the Zappi: it monitors surplus generation and routes it to the car rather than exporting at Smart Export Guarantee rates.
The V2G-ready architecture is a longer-term play. Vehicle-to-grid technology — where your car battery feeds electricity back into the home or grid — is not yet widely available in the UK for domestic use, but the hardware groundwork is there. Whether that matters to you depends on how long you expect to keep the charger.
Who it suits
Solar households who want a British-made alternative to the Zappi and are willing to pay a small premium for the IP65 rating and the longer cable. The Indra app is functional and improving. If V2G becomes commercially relevant in the next few years, having a compatible charger already installed is a genuine advantage.
What I'd watch for
Indra is a smaller company than Wallbox or Hypervolt, which means the installer network is thinner and support turnaround times can be longer. The solar divert works well but requires a compatible energy monitor — confirm the setup requirements with your installer before committing. At £829 it competes directly with the Hypervolt Home 3 and the Zappi; the decision often comes down to installer preference and which app ecosystem you prefer.
